Video  & Mouse drivers suddenly crash
Hey,Well I re-installed windows 7 on a different hard drive (an older one but I know this one has no issues) after having that drive issue problem. Now that seems to be gone, however I'm now having new weird problems.Randomly my video driver sometimes 'crashes' and then automatically restarts. Sometimes, it crashes and never comes back up. Same thing with my mouse, it works fine and then suddenly it stops working, a notification pop-up comes up and says the driver crashed and its restarting it, after it restarts it - its all fine.Any ideas whats causing these random crashes of these drivers?Right now the video driver I think crashed, it actually did not say anything this time; However, my screen resolution dropped to 800x600, the background is completely BLACK and when i try and change the resolution back, it reverts back to 800x600.I'm not really sure whats going on here, Anyone have any iefdas?

I have seen only one of these video "crashes" with the popup you describe.Maybe after enough video driver crashes, Windows disables it? This would explain the 800x600.Check the Event Viewer for related messages. Also look in Device Manager to see what the status is.

Hi AMailer:What are the hardware specs for your PC? CPU, RAM, Graphics Card, TV tuners if any, Motherboard version.

Hi AMailer: You have two likely causes of your problems. 1. Your video card drivers are not working correctly. (most likely). 2. The SetPoint software is not working properly. (Not so likely). Probaby the best way to proceed is to go into control panel>programs and uninstall the nVidia drivers and before re-starting open Device Manager>expand Display adapters(if still present)> right click Properties and uninstall the device. Then, re-start the PC and let Win7 O.S. install the built-in drivers. You might have to re-set the screen resolution. Then if you are able to use those drivers successfully, see if Microsoft update will give you an update for the nVidia drivers. I just got one in the last day or two for my 7600 GT but don't remember if it was in Vista or Win7. I'm pretty sure though that I got a Video card update very soon after installing Win7. At this point use the PC if possible and see if your original problems are solved. If not leave the built-in graphic drivers alone and remove the SetPoint software in "Programs" and uninstall in Device Manager and re-boot. The built-in drivers in Win7 will work with the mouse. After re-boot see if your problems are gone. Try using Win 7 with the built-in graphics and mouse drivers for a while. If everything seems ok, you can try updating the drivers for the video card first..............try it for a while for stability and if ok try installing the mouse software and try it for a while. One of those two will probably start causing the same problems and that way you'll be able to tell which one. I have been running the built-in Win7 graphics for my nVidia 7600 GT since the day I downloaded Win7 without a problem. No problems with the graphics after the automatic Windows update of them either. The Logitech site says that their mice and keyboards will work with the built-in drivers with any Windows O.S. Installing their latest software will add additional features.....if they work well with Win7. I believe them, I have another PC with a Logitech Cordless Wave keyboard and mouse that are both working fine with the built-in Win7 drivers. Good luck!
